The new orange seals are manufactured using state-of-the-art technologies. They offer a longer service life compared to the previous seals. The main focus was on reducing friction to improve engine performance.
The bearings are available in 2 versions – with elastic polymer cage for racing (less friction) and with robust metal cage for daily road use. While the metal version is more robust than the plastic cage version, it is also subject to greater wear due to increased friction and heat generation.
Both types are approved by SKF for a limiting speed of up to 20,000 rpm. The ensure long bearing life they have to be sufficiently lubricated and properly installed.
The advantages with the polymer-plastic version compared to metal cages are increased elasticity and reduced friction. We personally this type of bearing for racing engines, but you’ll have to pay some attention to carburetor and ignition settings, as the bearings may only be permanently heated to a maximum of 120° to prevent damage to the plastic cage.
Please pay attention when installing the bearings: The half-open side must face the crankshaft webs.
Attention! The polymer cage version should only be installed on engines without a catalytic converter!
